Bly Lawson
Originally from the North of England, Helen Lawson, known as Bly, lived with her husband Michael at Holywell on the Windlesham Road from May 1963. Bly and Michael enjoyed music, gardening, bridge and golf but while they were away on a golfing holiday in the mid-1970s Michael died.
Bly continued to live at Holywell. She was very thoughtful, kind and polite and became a great supporter of other people's causes, encouraging them both practically and financially. For example, she would support a flower stall at a village fête or even prepare a meal for a family returning from holiday. She was a very knowledgeable gardener and spent hours tending her garden. While she never had children of her own, she was very fond of young people and was always keen to support them and youth groups.
One night in April 2002 her house caught fire and Bly tragically died. In keeping with her generous character, Bly left part of her Estate to Chobham Youth.
